
The following agencies support the innovation research carried out by the faculty of the School of Computer Science.
The major source of funding for on-going research is through the Natural Sciences and Engineering Reserach Council (NSERC). During 2006-2007, 16 faculty member will be supported through NSERC in the amount of $406,950 which increased by 10.48% from 2005-2006.
The Canadian Institute of Health Research is Canada's major federal funding agency for health research.
Dr. Ziad Kobti along with principal investigator, Dr. Anne Snowdon (Nursing) were awarded a CIHR Team Planning and Development Grant in the amount of $95,083 for one year with an associated equipment grant of $3,500 for the reserach project "Toward Enhanced Quality of Life through Injury Prevention, Acute Response and Rehabilitation".
SHARCNET is a research association of colleges and universities connected through advanced fibre optics allowing cutting edge computational research. This consortium accelerates production of research meeting the needs of research and industry partners and also attracts academic excellence.
The NCE is a partnership between universities, government and industry. Its purpose is to develop Canada's economy and improve Canadians quality of life.
Auto 21 is a national research association supported by the Canadian Government along with involvement through NCE. It is also supported with more than 110 industry, government and institutional partners. Its foremost purpose is improve and enhance global competiveness of the Canadian auto industry through Canadian research.
